L. William Luria, MD is a board
certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon, licensed risk manager and
is presently the President of the Florida Society of Plastic Surgeons.
He is the former Chairman of the Department of Plastic and
Reconstructive Surgery at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, and is
affiliated with several major hospitals in the Tampa Bay area. Dr. Luria
trained at Buffalo General Hospital and was a clinical assistant in
surgery while there. In 1982, he moved to Tampa and became an assistant
professor at the University of South Florida Medical School.
In the 1960's and 1970's he was involved in cancer research at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York and at Roswell Park in Buffalo, NY. During tenure at the University of South Florida he worked on projects related to skin cancer. Dr. Luria has lectured at regional, national, and international meetings. He left the University of South Florida in 1985 to enter private practice. Dr. Luria's areas of expertise, training, and research include skin care, wound care, burn-care, cancer, aging changes and cosmetic surgery. Dr. Luria is on the Board of Directors of Positive Education, and the St. Joseph's Hospital Physician Organization. He has also been involved with the Orton Dyslexia Association, and has spoken at national and regional meetings on learning disabilities. Dr. Luria has participated in medical missions to third world countries. Dr. Luria has become nationally recognized for his role in tort reform, peer review of expert testimony. He has been the subject of articles in The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Medical Economics, and was featured on PBS and Health Week Program highlighting the peer review process. He has been a guest speaker for the Manhattan Institute at the Harvard Club in NYC. Dr. Luria was an award-winning editor of the Hillsborough County Medical Bulletin, and was the assistant to the editor of the Florida Medical Association News. He has written many articles that have been published in peer review journals, and has written several chapters for medical texts in addition to two books. He worked with medical grade silicones for over 20-years. Dr. Luria has a variety of honors from his peers, including Physician of The Year by the Hillsborough County Medical Association in 1998. He is a member of numerous Medical Societies where he has had leadership roles. His clinical knowledge and
expertise lend a powerful endorsement to this product line. Dr. Luria's
primary responsibility to the company is in new product development and
education. He will oversee clinical research and help monitor the
quality of the product. |
